IANA handed out the last free IPv4 blocks in 2011. Since then every network that needs public addresses has had two options: buy a block outright on the transfer market, or lease it. For most operators leasing is the better answer — it turns a large capital purchase into a predictable monthly line item, and it can be reversed when your needs change.
When you lease from Alaxona, the block stays registered to its holder in the RIPE database. What you receive is the documented right to announce and use it: your organisation is set as MNT-BY on the RIPE object for the prefix, we create an RPKI ROA matching your ASN, and delegate reverse DNS to you. By agreement we can also issue the block with sub-allocated PA status, so you can assign address space onward to your own customers. Nothing has to be transferred between registries, which is why a lease is measured in hours rather than weeks.
Buying makes sense when you are certain you will need the same block for a decade or more and can tie up the capital. Leasing wins on almost everything else: no purchase, no due diligence on a seller, no RIPE transfer paperwork, no exposure to a falling resale market, and the freedom to scale up or hand the block back when a project ends.

A single /24 (256 addresses) is the smallest prefix most networks on the internet will accept in the global routing table — anything smaller cannot be announced independently. However, we lease /24s in a minimum batch of two, so the smallest order is 512 addresses across two /24 blocks, from €238 per month.
If you would rather have one contiguous range instead of two separate /24s, order a /23 (512 addresses) directly for the same total size and the same price.
Yes — use the quantity selector on the /24 pricing card, or state how many blocks you need in the contact form. Two or more /24s is the minimum order, and there is no fixed upper limit; large orders are simply confirmed against available inventory before we send the offer.
Unlike a single /23 or /22, individual /24 blocks can be spread across different geolocations or announced under different ASNs, which is useful if you need address diversity rather than one contiguous range.
To announce the range yourself, yes — you need an ASN and an upstream willing to accept the prefix. That is the normal setup for hosting providers and ISPs.
If you do not have an ASN, the addresses can be routed through an existing network, or we can point you at what is involved in registering one. Tell us your situation in the form and we will suggest the simplest route.
It depends on your horizon. Buying a /24 outright costs roughly €10,000 up front on the transfer market. Leasing the same /24 costs €119 a month, or €1,428 a year.
On price alone the two break even somewhere around year seven. Before that, leasing is plainly cheaper. Beyond it, buying can win — but only if you are certain you will still want that exact block, and you are comfortable holding an asset whose resale value nobody can predict.
Yes. You can move up to a larger prefix at any point during the term, and you can reduce or release space at the end of a contract period. Tell us early if you expect to grow, so we can reserve adjacent space where possible and save you renumbering.
The lease renews unless one side gives notice within the period set in the agreement. If you do not renew, you stop announcing the prefix on the agreed date and the range returns to us. Plan your renumbering before that date — once the range is withdrawn, anything still pointing at those addresses stops working.
Spam is prohibited, using the Spamhaus definition: bulk messages sent without the recipient's prior, verifiable and revocable consent. Also prohibited: hosting fraud, scams and other fraudulent activity, network attacks, port scanning and other abuse of third-party systems.
The addresses may never be used by, for, or for the benefit of any sanctioned individual or entity. Any of the above ends the lease.
